Mom Was Going Crazy Yesterday | Columbus, Ohio Family Photographer

There’s really no way to start an email about coronavirus. I mean, WTF. I spent all of last week just trying to figure out what was going on in my own head, how I was going to manage this household, and how to keep each of us from poking each other in the eye.

I did have some moments of clarity between my gluttonous eating and drinking. I told the kids that I wanted them to write journal entries each weekday because…well…its not like this kind of thing happens…ever.

It was a bit depressing for me to find out that I really missed my gym and just how much I relied on working out for mental clarity. Thankfully, my gym (T&J) is offering live classes on Facebook but, ugh, its really disheartening to find out I’m one of those people.

Its taken me a few days but, I realized that I was trying to apply my past perceptions of normal and routine to a situation that is entirely…not. That I need to pivot my outlook. Sooo…I did that and then I remembered that I had a business.

I’ve been trying to think of ways to make this whole thing better for y’all. I mean if your head has been where mine has been…you’ll take any little thing to make it better. I know that there is a front porch project going around where photographers are staying a respectable distance and taking pics of families on their porches. While I love the idea, it doesn’t lend to my uber personal shooting style. You guys know how my sessions are…you know that the first thing I do when I see you is hug and you know I like to walk, chat and low whisper about the kids. That is like the opposite of social distancing. How am I going to see a client and not hug them?

Sooo I’m doing the best thing that I know to do and that is try to be a friend. I’m trying to reach out more on social media…commenting and dm’ing. I hope some friendly words will brighten your day a bit…and I hope I’ll see you for some amazing portraits when we get to the other side of this.
